A colourful, creative collection of entertainers

What an awesome site and sound, outfitted beautifully in red and black with such great expression, these guys moved as one and I was magnetised as I photographed them.

True professionals, this colourful troupe's new costumes are as big a hit as their musical talent.

Sam Bailey

I was moved to tears many times as I listened for the first time to the life story of this extremely loveable scallywag from Croppa Creek in Northern NSW. Sam Bailey tells an amazing and touching story which gave me a glimpse of how difficult and tough life can be for any of us.

His is a story you have to hear, and I could sit and listen to Sam speak for a day, and not miss a thing he says. He has a gift of mischievous, roguish speech and talent which many able-bodied people don't possess, and inspired by his love-of-his-life wife, Jenny he has and will achieve great things.

Read their story, Head Over Heels by Sam and Jenny Bailey. http://www.sambailey.com.au/

I had my trusty Canon 5D fitted with the 70-200 telephoto fully zoomed to 200 and set on an aperture of 2.8 and ISO 1600.

I only made use of the stage lighting, but Sam moved perfectly into the best lit position and fortunately I got these outstanding results, you can see a sparkle in Jenny's eye, and that cheeky little smile on Sam's face.

Good luck with the helicopter training Sam & Jenny, and take care.

Les Folies Fantastique!

Last weekend was a blur for me, this event The Photon Awards in Sydney was as big a production as the Logies, and it was a truly polished and spectacular night for 1500 celebrity guests. The extravaganza lasted for over 6 hours. Here's a few shots of many, which now make up 7 galleries on the site.

Another garden, another movie star ...

Who could resist a combination like this of Kangaroo Paw in full flower on a Sunny Sunday afternoon.

Helen looking pretty cool in her sunnies is inspecting the beautiful gardens of Kinvarra, Allan and Jan Penman’s one-hectare property at Wandin North, Vic. I brought my Canon along for the ride and once again I'm so glad I did.

This cheeky little guy had a quick peek around the corner and was gone, you have to be quick sometimes ...

Amazing Australian Native flowers, a protea of some type I think, it was huge ...

Here's my flowering models once again, and sepia suits the natural setting.

A Spring Flower ...

Having a love of gardens and natural settings, I couldn't miss the opportunity this mass of slender flowering stems presented, and combined with a pretty face here is the result ...

There are so many natural props out there in parks and gardens at this time of year, and for a photographer it's part of the fun of creating pictures to first of all see the beauty around us, and then maximise these natural settings and capture something which may only be there for a short time.

When I saw this stand of graceful flowers I thought straight away how cute a setting this would be with children in amongst the stems, engulfed by such a mass of delicate flowers.

With a little location like this, it certainly beats the old 'stand up against the wall and I'll take your photo'. Backgrounds for me are critical, and can make or break the best photo. Using imagination, and an awareness of what's in the photo other than your subject will always give you great results.

... and here's the boys too!

I've never met a bigger bunch of gigglers, I hope I do more photos with these mischievous boys in the future.

Pretty good-looking bunch of scallywags here eh?

More Adelaide Celebrities ...

This family of 5 gorgeous kids were fun to photograph. The young lady of the family was the perfect model and was very patient while we tested all sorts of lighting tricks as the sun was getting low in the sky.

Some nice results, even with those tricky strands of hair in the eye ...

I certainly prefer taking photographs when the sun is lower in the sky, early or late, it provides such good highlights.

A short trip to South Australia

I was in Adelaide last weekend with my lovely wife Sue and of course, I was busy with the camera.

I was there for a wedding, but also squeezed in a couple of photo sessions as well. Adelaide turned on beautiful weather so my outdoor shots have the benefit of great natural light and beautiful scenery, not to mention the delightful familes I photographed. I feature a few photos of one lovely family today.

This family, minus dad who unfortunately, was working, comprised twin girls and a little handsome man and of course their loving mum and nana. So here's a few highlights ...

I will add some more things as I get through them, I've had quite a few interesting shoots over the past weeks from events to panorama adventures, and I'll be happy to have the processing completed soon (unless more gets added to the list – LOL).
